Meet the @Celestial-Virgin

A professional muse

Liisbeth Kirss aka @celestialvirgin titles herself as a professional muse and a superficial deep person. By this, you can already get a sense of her whimsical take on life and art. Always balancing between even grotesque and romantically beautiful esthetics, Liisbeth succeeds to mock without becoming ridiculous.

@Celestialvirgin

Trashy-printsess, lapsik vampnaine,
saatuslik sireen, ilus, ülbe, naljakas ja
haavatav sotsiaalmeedia vaimolend,
„Voodoo paradiisi“ nägu.

Trashy princess, childlike vamp woman,
fatal siren, beautiful, haughty, funny and
vulnerable social media spectral entity,
the face of the “Voodoo Paradise”.

Ma olen umbes viimase kahe aasta jooksul märganud, kuidas minu Instagrami-isiksus on imbunud füüsilisele tasandile.

Mille järgi valid hommikul, mida selga panna?

Millest praegu unistad?
Päikesest, merest, poistest.

I noticed you for the first time on Instagram where you had created a powerful and captivating character. Do you consciously create your social media image?

In the last two years, I have noticed how my Instagram alter ego has seeped on to the physical level. Quite often it happens that when I’m out and about, someone asks me: “Are you Celestial?” I have since accepted that my online persona doesn’t exist separately from me. Due to that realization, I try to be as honest; open; self-confident as possible on Instagram – the kind of person I aspire to being in real life, too.

Your beauty is an odd mix of unworldliness and sexuality. How much do you use your appearance to accomplish something in life?

I can say unabashedly that I use my appearance just for strutting and getting attention. I’m aware of the power of my beauty so why not have fun with it as long as I can.

How do you choose what to wear in the morning?

I wear the same clothing day in and day out. It gets interesting in the evening when I start shaping my appearance around a new name, personality, and background. For example, I will take a red wig that makes me feel that tonight my name is Veronica, I’m a high-powered divorce attorney whose hobbies are golf and producing handmade soaps. All these invented characters are a genuine part of @celestialvirgin.

After I had discovered your social media entity, I discovered that you’re the jewellery student Liisbeth at the Academy of Arts. Why did you choose jewellery as your medium?

Jewellery is a portable artwork that is personal and public at the same time. The work is intimately installed in contact with the body but is there to be shown to others. That kind of existing between two levels makes it the ideal medium for me.

What do you dream of these days?
Sun, sea, boys.

“PEEPSHOW” is about love, sexuality, shame, and pride: “Some feelings make you want to cover your eyes and hide behind a curtain. Fighting this shyness is an everyday struggle. Why do I feel a girly coyness as a grown-up woman? And when I do temporarily defeat this feeling, I have to start explaining my “arrogance”. Does anyone even love without shame?
